The camera I use to photograph my food is a Canon EOS 40D.  I use a 50mm 1.8 lens and, when I need a really close shot, I have a 50mm 2.8 Macro lens.   I alway try to use natural light to shoot in but, in the winter months, sometimes this is not possible.  I will reluctantly drag out the Ott lights and/or shoot with my Canon Speedlite 430EX.
