Espresso Shots

Here's a great little concoction to keep the party going - espresso shots!  An icy blend of Kahlua, Cointreau, tequila and espresso will give you that extra bit of energy.  Place a whole bunch of these pretty shots on a serving tray and pass them around.  It will pick up your party a notch or two!

Espresso Shots

adapted from Colin Cowie

for a printable recipe, click here

makes 4 shots

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/8 cup sugar
  • 2 ounces tequila
  • 1 ounce Kahlúa
  • 1 ounce Cointreau
  • 2 ounces cold espresso

Instructions:

Place the orange juice and the sugar in two different shallow prep bowls.  Dip the shot glasses first in the orange juice and then in the sugar.

In cocktail shaker full of ice, mix the rest of the ingredients.  Shake well.  Pour into shot glasses.

Excellent idea! Not only will it keep the party going (love Tequila!) but it will keep all your guests wide awake for some more fun! Looking forward to sampling soon, thanks, SALUDE!

I know this is a silly question, how do I brew/make espresso without an espresso machine?

From The Italian Dish:

Cindy: You can try using just very strong coffee or you may want to use one of these very affordable stovetop espresso makers: http://www.kaycircle.com/How-to-make-Espresso-at-home-without-a-machine

I've never seen anything like this. So clever and cute, they'd be a hit with my friends and family.

They look sensational. We're having friends for dinner next week and I'm going to serve them up. Delicious!

I love these! I usually serve cafe bombon (spanish drink with sweet condensed milk) with dessert, but this seems like a great summer substitute.

I am a little skeptical about the combination of espresso and orange flavor though. How strong is the orange taste?

You photography is fantastic by the way, and there are so many articles on here I can't wait to read. Definitely adding your to my google reader. So glad I stumbled across your site!

Thanks for this recipe. Definitely adding it to our menu. The plan for this weekend (we're hosting 10 guests): These espresso shots alongside chocolate cake shots in lieu of dessert! Let the games begin...
